A Word From MAIYTRA's President

Brought to you by Brihan Maharashtra Mandal of North America, MAIYTRA started in 1994 in an effort to preserve Marathi culture among Marathi youth. MAIYTRA is a biennial event that provides an environment that reinforces our cultural beliefs and values. It creates a forum for young adults from around the country and internationally to meet others with similar values, backgrounds, and most importantly, who share an interest in maintaining their Marathi roots during these changing times.

The anticipated 450 attendees of MAIYTRA-Chicago are all bonded by this common cultural heritage. Our committee is using input from past attendees to make the traditional seminars on Marathi culture, religion and traditions more creative and informative.

Also taking your suggestions, we are hard at work in arranging seminar/activity time where you will be able to meet attendees in similar phases of their life. In keeping with the Chicago spirit, this plan is known as the “Cubs” and the “Bears.” Time will be allotted where our college attendees can meet each other and discuss the college experience. Similarly, our post graduate attendees, will be afforded more opportunities to meet each other in a setting geared towards the commonalities between them, such as career development.

We want to make this event the most memorable experience for you, and take MAIYTRA to new levels of success. To learn more, please browse our website. We welcome any feedback you may have and look forward to seeing all of you in Chicago!
