Uday Lele - Keynote
Look up the definition of "driven" or "entrepreneur" in a dictionary and you might find pictures of our Keynote Speaker, Uday Lele, a former international candy magnate turned real estate developer. He ran his father's steel foundry and a car repair shop as a teenager and then attended the University of Bombay, now the University of Mumbai, and earned degrees in chemistry and physics. Starting with $20, he formed a chemical company and turned it into a $54-million business in eight years. At 32, he was the youngest CEO whose company traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Lele moved to America in 1990 and started a candy company. As president of Dayhoff LLC, he invented the "Juicee Gummy", the first gummy bear made with real fruit juice. In 2004, he sold his confectionary company and started devlopment of beach front condo's. His latest project, the Enchantment condominium tower will be the grandest ever built on Clearwater Beach.

MR. DILEEP THATTE graduated with a B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering with distinction after attending the Indian Institute of Management. He came to the US for graduate studies on an "Ambassador of Goodwill" scholarship, sponsored by the Rotary International. During his time as a graduate student, he addressed many Rotary Clubs in the USA on Indian Culture.
Mr. Thatte has held several senior management positions in different multinational organizations and is currently Vice-President of a global corporation involved in water pollution control utilizing wind power.
He has been actively involved in various Indian and Marathi organizations, and was previously the President of Marathi Mandal in Toronto, Canada and Pittsburgh, PA. Currently, Mr. Thatte is the President of the Maharashtra Mandal of Chicago.
He has been involved in teaching the youth Indian languages (Hindi & Marathi), Culture and History. He was one of the lead teachers for Cultural Studies at The Indian Cultural Association of Pittsburgh for several years.

RAJESHWARI V. PANDHARIPANDE is Professor of Religious Studies, Linguistics, Sanskrit and Comparative Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The major focus of her research and teaching has been languages (Sanskrit, Hindi,and Marathi), Linguistics, and religion in India. She holds two Ph.D. degrees: one in Sanskrit (language, literature, and religion) from Nagpur University, India, and the second in Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Professor Pandharipande has published five books and more than 65 scholarly articles on various aspects of languages and religions of India. Her major book publications include Marathi: A grammar of the Marathi language (Routledge, 1997), Sociolinguistic Dimensions of Marathi (Lancôme, 1003), Introduction to Asian Mythology and Religion (Simon and Schulte 1993), Never is a long Time aur anya Hindi Kavitaen (Banhatti Prakashan , Nagpur 1997), and Language of Religion in South Asia: Theory and Practice (Palgrove-Macmillan, forth coming).
Professor Pandharipande has received the Harriet and Luckman Campus teaching Award for her consistently outstanding teaching at UIUC (1997), and was awarded the title, "Univesity Scholar" for her outstanding scholarly research accomplishments. Her teaching includes Hinduism, Asian Mythology, Language of Religion, Sociolinguistics, Sanskrit and Marathi.
MARATHI STEWART
She is the President and CEO of "CuisineCuisine.com" and her motto is "Food Is Culture....Culture Is Food!" Mrs. Pradhan has helped bachelors cook traditional food and divas go domestic! She has a degree in Food & Nutrition and a Post Graduate Degree in Dietetics. Over the past 15 years she has been teaching fun-filled Indian Cuisine Classes here in the U.S. She is currently writing a series of cookbooks on Indian cuisine geared towards the "dotcom" generation.
Mrs. Pradhan has only created and marketed one-of-a-kind gift baskets capturing the essence of Indian tradition and cuisine! Martha Stewart, eat your heart out! Here comes the one and only "Marathi Stewart!"
Sunil Kolhekar
In August of 1996, Mr. Sunil Kolhekar incorporated CITI (Creative Information Technology, Inc.), an information technology company, which had its first contract within six months and has since then grown to more than 150 diversely talented and dedicated professionals. The firm primarily provides solutions and services to the federal government including the State Department, Department of Defense, and Environmental Protection Agency.
CITI has won numerous awards including the Virginia Chamber of Commerce Fantastic Fifty, #300 in Deloitte Technology North America Fast 500, and #16 in Deloitte Virginia Fast 50. CITI was recently listed as one of the fastest growing Indian American firms in the country.
Mr. Kolhekar is grateful for the success of CITI, and believes strongly it is time to give back. CITI has its own mentor-protégé program which nurtures growth of small businesses, the way other companies had helped CITI. Five years from now, Mr. Kolhekar would like to have an Entrepreneurship Growth Program within the company so that he can mentor his employees and help them to start companies of their own like he once did. He also hopes to continue to see dramatic growth, where CITI will hit the $100 million in annual revenue.
